Ronin, 浪人, rōnin, n. [Jap. r[=o]-nin, fr. Chin. lang profligate, lawless + j[^e]n (old sound n[=i]n) man.] A masterless samurai with no obligations to a lord or house during Japan's feudal period. As an academic ronin, I read widely, research wherever the chase leads me, write on topics that engage me, and teach when and where I can create good opportunities to do so.
